Dear Season Seat Member,
On behalf of the Canadian Premier League and its clubs, I hope you, your family members and loved ones continue to be well and healthy.
In the last letter to you, we told you how we have been working tirelessly with all of our Clubs, Partners and Players on potential return-to-play solutions. We felt an obligation to get back on the pitch as soon as possible in a safe and responsible manner.
We are pleased to let you know that today, we officially announced that the Canadian Premier League’s 2020 season will be played in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. The Island Games will commence on Thursday, August 13 with a rematch of the 2019 season finalists Forge FC vs Cavalry FC and will conclude in September. All matches will be played to closed doors in a sequestered environment at University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) Alumni Field in Charlottetown.
In partnership with the Canadian Premier League’s media broadcast partner OneSoccer, this year, our fans will be ‘digital’ spectators and we are building out an in-depth format for you to access the matches and feel the in-stadium experience -creating the feeling of being in a seat at the match. We plan to generate a world-class event that incorporates fan engagement through other formats to present an exciting and experiential opportunity for fans.
We also promised you that with this announcement we would provide an update on a new member initiative we’ve been working on that is designed to keep you even more connected, informed, passionate and engaged with your CPL Club.
You have been incredibly patient with us to date and your support is recognized and appreciated. Now is the time we hope that this support for your Club and your love for the beautiful game of football can be demonstrated by joining “The Collective” in 2020! We have officially launched “The Collective” – a membership program that offers unique and exclusive benefits and gives fans the opportunity to support their Club and support the Canadian Premier League. “The Collective” program is a direct invitation to our Season Seat Members and Supporters to participate in “The Island Games”. Each membership will include a collection of benefits, both tangible and experiential.
Each of our Clubs ticketing teams will be in contact with you to provide more information and options about “The Collective” and your current season seat membership.
We asked you to be patient and please accept our heartfelt thanks for continuing to support us while we worked hard to ensure we could both deliver the safest sequestered event possible and provide you, our valued supporters with an exciting membership program to continue to be part of The Canadian Premier League journey, your league that you have helped build!
We Are Many, We Are One!
David Clanachan, Commissioner, Canadian Premier League
