MATCH PREVIEW:

Valour has never beaten Cavalry FC in its history, with just two draws against six losses in their eight meetings dating back to 2019. They’ll certainly need some magic now with the window for a playoff spot now closing upon them.

Valour is coming off a 1-1 draw with FC Edmonton on Saturday, but saw York United FC and HFX Wanderers – the two teams they are chasing for the fourth and final playoff spot – play to a 1-1 draw on Sunday and both earn points. Valour is in sixth place with 24 points – five back of the Wanderers and six behind York United.

This is the third of a four-match homestand that wraps up on Thanksgiving Monday with a visit by Forge FC. Valour will then wrap up the 2021 regular season with four of its last five on the road.

Cavalry, meanwhile, is second overall in the standings and four points back of first-place Pacific FC, with one match in hand.

3 VALOUR FC PLAYERS TO WATCH

#21 Jose Galan, MF: His minutes have been managed since he returned from a long stretch on the injured list, but he was solid in his 20 minutes after subbing in late in the draw with Edmonton.

#19 William Akio, FW: Akio had his moments in the draw with the Eddies, finishing with three shots – two on target – but couldn’t quite finish his chances.

#27 Raphael Ohin, MF: He started against Edmonton and played the whole match. Brings a physical element to the middle of the pitch that can make him tough to play against.

INJURED

Valour has been without dominant centre back Andrew Jean-Baptiste for most of the season after he suffered a torn ACL in the Kickoff bubble at the start of the season. Forward and leading scorer Austin Ricci is also unavailable for the rest of the year due to a knee injury suffered in the Canadian Championship quarterfinal loss to Forge FC.
