When: Wednesday, August 31st, 7 p.m. CT

Where: IG Field, Winnipeg, MB.

MATCH PREVIEW:

Valour must keep the proverbial foot jammed down on the gas pedal here as it continues to chase down the CPL’s fourth and final playoff spot. The club is in fifth spot, five points out of fourth, but just nine points out of first overall with each victory worth three points.

The club has three matches this week which began with Sunday’s 1-nil win over Pacific FC and continues with this one – originally scheduled as the home opener but postponed due to CPL COVID-19 protocols – and wraps up with Sunday’s home date, also with Forge.

Valour ranks third in goals per match at 1.43 – Forge is first at 2.0 – while the two clubs are also ranked first and third in goals conceded per match; Forge at 0.95 and Valour at 1.14.

THE GAFFER SAYS:

GM and head coach Phillip Dos Santos on Forge FC:

“This a team that probably isn’t as consistent as it wants to be recently, but when it comes to football quality, they’ve shown throughout the season they are to me the most-dangerous team out there. We need to be aware of that and respect them, but we’ve already played them twice and held our ground and been good against them.

“We need to be extremely patient and accept that they can be a team that dominates possession in a lot of their games, and even against us. We must be patient and if we control the space well, we know we always find ways to score because the team has shown the ability to find goals in multiple games, even against the best teams.”

VALOUR FC SPOTLIGHT:

#14 Stefan Cebara: The veteran defender/midfielder served up what Dos Santos called his best game of the season in last Sunday’s 1-0 win over Pacific and brings experience, versatility and a maturity in his decision making.
