MATCH PREVIEW:

There’s been a lot to like about Valour’s last two matches – a pair of draws, one against FC Edmonton the other against Cavalry FC. Their defending has been stout and while they have lacked finish on the attack, they are generating some quality chances.

That said, the clock is ticking now on chasing down a playoff spot, with Valour five points behind fourth place York United FC and with HFX Wanderers – sandwiched between the two clubs in fifth spot – four points ahead with just six matches remaining.

The home side desperately needs some points ASAP, as after Monday’s meeting with Forge FC they finish up the regular season with four of their final five matches on the road.

3 VALOUR FC PLAYERS TO WATCH

#42 Rafael Galhardo, MF: The veteran Brazilian is coming off arguably his best game in Valour colours. His work on free kicks in the 0-0 draw with Cavalry was sensational, even if his teammates couldn’t capitalize with some finish.

#12 Rocco Romeo, D: He can be such an intimidating presence along the back line for Valour. The TFC loanee has a lot of the same characteristics as Andrew Jean-Baptiste, who dominated at this spot before being lost for the season with an injury.

#2 Rodrigo Reyes, D: Seems to be growing in confidence with every match. His performance vs. Cavalry was also steady.

INJURED

Valour has been without dominant centre back Andrew Jean-Baptiste for most of the season after he suffereda torn ACL in the Kickoff bubble at the start of the season. Forward and leading scorer Austin Ricci is also unavailable for the rest of the year due to a knee injury suffered in the Canadian Championship quarterfinal loss to Forge FC.
