MATCH PREVIEW:

Valour FC is looking to keep rolling along here while attempting to lock down one of the CPL’s four playoff spots. The club enters the weekend on a roll, having won two straight matches this week against Pacific FC and Forge FC and, as a result, is now on a five-match unbeaten streak at home with four wins and a draw.

They’ll be meeting Forge again today after winning 1-0 last Wednesday in the rescheduled home opener and if the intensity level is anywhere near as high as it was a few days ago – 12 yellow cards were issued – this one could also have a playoff vibe about it.

Valour will be without leading scorer Moses Dyer today, as he picked up two yellows in Wednesday’s win and will have to serve a one-game suspension.

THE GAFFER SAYS:

GM and head coach Phillip Dos Santos on the rematch with Forge FC:

“I know that Bobby (Smyrniotis, Forge head coach) never gets tired and he works very hard. I respect him for that. He’s someone that is always going to look to improve his team and he’s going to be in the hotel and will be trying to find ways to counter what we brought.

“I told my players we didn’t play a perfect game and there’s elements in our game that we need to improve, and we’ll also be looking at what we can do better.”

VALOUR FC SPOTLIGHT:

#22 Matteo de Brienne, FW: The speedy attacker scored his third goal of the season in Wednesday’s win, and it came in spectacular fashion.

A passionate and hard-working forward, de Brienne uses his quickness to pressure defenders and to get into open spaces and is getting more comfortable with his increased minutes.
