MATCH PREVIEW:

Valour enters a critical stretch of the season, what with five matches remaining in their chase for the fourth and final playoff spot. Valour is in sixth place with 28 points, four back of fourth-place HFX Wanderers and three behind York United FC.

Valour plays four of its final five matches on the road, with Saturday’s match followed by a visit to Ottawa next Wednesday, a home date against the Wanderers on October 26 with trips to Calgary and Edmonton wrapping up the schedule.

The squad is coming off an impressive 3-1 victory over Forge FC on Thanksgiving Monday and is now unbeaten in three matches, with two draws preceding last weekend’s win. The team now has one win, two draws and two losses under new GM and head coach Phillip Dos Santos.

3 VALOUR FC PLAYERS TO WATCH

#7 Moses Dyer, F: Dyer was named the CPL’s Player of the Week on Friday after scoring a goal and adding an assist in the win over Forge. Dyer has six goals this year and is creating changes from the forward position in the absence of Austin Ricci. Like Ricci, he brings a grit and toughness up front for Valour.

#27 Raphael Ohin, MF: Picked up two assists in the Thanksgiving Monday win, helping set up Rocco Romeo’s goal and also Dyer’s marker.

#1 Jonathan Sirois, GK: Sirois was solid in the victory over Forge and continues to lead the CPL in clean sheets, with eight.

INJURED

Valour has been without dominant centre back Andrew Jean-Baptiste for most of the season after he suffered a torn ACL in the Kickoff bubble at the start of the season. Forward and leading scorer Austin Ricci is also unavailable for the rest of the year due to a knee injury suffered in the Canadian Championship quarterfinal loss to Forge FC.
