Player’s voice: A letter from Skylar Thomas

Dear fans,

I don’t cut corners. I can’t afford to.

Whether it’s a clearing header, a sliding tackle, or a well-timed interception, every aspect of my game requires full focus and maximum effort.

You can expect that kind of commitment from me whenever I step on the field.

It’s what I’m about. It’s the only way I know how to play this beautiful game.

I’ll lay it all out on the field. Nothing held back.

Every. Single. Time.

I’m willing to do anything I have to in order to see Valour FC succeed.

I want to see this team win, and I want to put a good brand of football out there on the field for you, the fans.

I know you’ll be there supporting us, and I’m going to make sure that every single player on the field provides you with an entertaining product.

I want to be a role model for young kids watching us play in Winnipeg.

Growing up, I had plenty of role models, and without them, I don’t think I would be where I am today.

I want to be a mentor for whoever is looking for it in Winnipeg, and across Canada.

I promise that I will do anything within my power to help Valour FC win games.

Skylar Thomas

This is about the Canadian Premier League and about Canadians in general.

When you think of the appetite and thirst for knowledge about these initial players and what our teams will look and feel like, this is massive. As I like to put it, this will help show what the DNA of our league will look like.

One of the top questions I’ve received is “Will there be young men from our regions playing on our teams?” Another big question from fans is “Will they be Canadians?” And the answer to both is a resounding yes. These guys are here because they want to play in this league. They’ve embraced the honour of playing coast-to-coast in Canada.

For me, they will forever be linked to the Canadian Premier League.
