“He’s a guy that is going to come here hungry and wants to prove himself”

Valour FC has found some gold mining for goalkeepers in Quebec, and they hope they have discovered another with their latest signing.

The club announced today the signing of Montreal product Jordan Tisseur, and he’ll work with Rayane Yesli heading into 2023 – as Valour’s last line of defence.

Over the last few seasons Valour has relied on CF Montreal prospects like James Pantemis and Jonathan Sirois, while Yesli was born in Algeria but raised in Quebec.

“They have a good school and they’ve developed good goalkeepers,” said Valour FC GM and Head Coach Phillip Dos Santos of the Quebec keeper factory. “You look at the national team now with James Pantemis and Max Crepeau – two guys are from the Quebec landscape.

“That weighed in on our decision because we know what we’re getting.”

Yesli has earned the No. 1 stopper spot after making 10 starts last season, including nine Canadian Premier League matches. He posted four clean sheets in those nine matches and conceded just eight goals.

Valour has had eyeballs on Tisseur for a while. A 22-year-old product of the Montreal Impact Academy, has attended national team camps at the U-15 and U-17 levels, had a stint with the Ottawa Fury and was on trials in Italy and Sweden before suiting up for the Université de Montreal Carabins as well as FC Laval, in the PLSQ (Premiere ligue de soccer du Quebec).

“We’ve been following him for a little bit,” said Dos Santos. “He’s someone who is already used to a professional environment through the pro academy of CF Montreal. He fits the profile of what we wanted. He’s a guy that is going to come here hungry and wants to prove himself at the professional level and understands his role in the team.

“He also has a history of working with Rayane, so that’s good for that micro-dynamic.”
