MATCH PREVIEW:

Valour FC is trying to hunt down the teams ahead of them in the CPL tables in the chase for a playoff spot and Pacific FC is eight points ahead in sixth place. Coming off a solid performance in a 2-2 road draw against league leader Atlético Ottawa, Valour is on the road again on the west coast against the Tridents. Valour is winless in its last three and has just one win in the last seven to fall into the CPL basement.

After this match the club will then play nine of their final 12 matches at Princess Auto Stadium, but desperately need to close the gap ASAP on the teams ahead of them to have those home dates have true meaning.

Valour will again be without fullback Roberto Alarcon as he serves the last of a three-game suspension due to a red card

THE OTHER GUYS:

3 Facts about Pacific FC:

  • Pacific has just two wins in its last 10, going 2-3-5 over a stretch from May 11th to their last match, a 2-1 loss to Forge FC.
  • Pacific has scored a league low 13 goals in 14 matches, with attacker Ayman Sellouf leading the squad with three goals.
  • Goalkeeper Emil Gazdov is tied for the league lead with five clean sheets.

VALOUR FC SPOTLIGHT:

#64, Safwane Mlah, midfielder: One of Valour’s two recent additions — along with fellow CS St. Laurent teammate Loic Kwemi — Mlah scored in his first start for the club in last Sunday’s draw with Ottawa. Valour could use production from anywhere on the pitch, so Mlah’s contributions could bolster the attack.

CRITICAL NUMBER
1

Valour desperately needs results and yet no team has given the club more woes historically than Pacific FC. Valour won its inaugural game against the Tridents back in 2019, but since then has just one victory and three draws against 16 defeats all time.

Valour has lost two previous meetings this year, a 2-0 defeat in Victoria back on April 19th in the second match of the season and 3-2 on June 14th in Winnipeg.
