Valour FC acquire defender Rocco Romeo on loan

Valour FC today announce the team has acquired Canadian defender Rocco Romeo on loan from Toronto FC (MLS)

Romeo, 21, joins Valour FC after spending two seasons with HB Køge (Danish First Division) on loan from Toronto FC, totalling one goal and 1,368 minutes played in 22 appearances.

“Rocco is a terrific signing for us,” said Valour FC Head Coach & GM Rob Gale. “Rocco is a player I’ve known many years and have seen him develop through the youth Canadian national teams. He is a very welcomed addition to our backline and will be a key part of our team going forward.”

The defender has been a part of the Toronto FC youth system since 2014. Since 2016, Romeo has made 33 appearances with Toronto FC III (League1 Ontario) and 25 appearances with Toronto FC II (USL).

Internationally, Romeo represented Canada at the 2017 CONCACAF U-17 Championship. In 2018, the defender was named to the Canadian U20 squad for the 2018 CONCACAF U-20 Championship and in 2020, was named to the Canadian U-23 provincial roster for the 2020 CONCACAF Men’s Olympic Qualifying Championship.
