Valour FC announces return of defender Stefan Cebara

Valour FC today announce that the club has picked up the option of Canadian defender Stefan Cebara.

Cebara, 30, joined Valour FC on March 6, 2020 after spending the 2018 season with Serbian club Vojvodina Novi Sad (Super liga Srbije).

“Retaining Stefan adds stability to our backline,” said Head Coach & General Manager Phillip Dos Santos. “He’s athletic, capable of defending space in behind, and has the ability to help the team in the first phase of buildup. We feel he’ll continue to grow coming into a familiar system and will help the team be more consistent going forward.”

The defender totaled a team-leading 2,186 minutes played in 26 appearances during the 2021 season, while also tallying one goal and two assists. In 2020, Cebara made seven appearances for the club, totalling 529 minutes played and one assist, while also drawing one penalty.

“The club is moving in the right direction and it’s something I want to be a part of,” said defender Stefan Cebara. “I want to continue to grow with the club and bring a championship to Winnipeg.”

Internationally, Cebara made five appearances with the senior Canadian Men’s National Team, 10 appearances with the under-20 squad and 20 appearances with the under-18 team. In 35 national team appearances, Cebara scored 19 goals.
