Valour FC acquire goalkeeper Jonathan Sirois and midfielder Sean Rea on loan

Valour FC today announce the team has acquired Canadian goalkeeper Jonathan Sirois and Canadian midfielder Sean Rea on loan from CF Montréal (MLS).

Sirois, 20, joins Valour FC after spending the previous season with the club on loan from CF Montréal.

“It was important for us to get Jonathan back,” said Valour FC Head Coach & GM Phillip Dos Santos. “It’s a position where you need stability, and we feel we have that with Jo and Rayane (Yesli). He’s a good piece in the locker room and brings leadership and experience in the league.”

The goalkeeper led the Canadian Premier League in saves (94), clean sheets (9), and under-21 minutes (2,160) during the 2021 season. He also earned the CPL’s Golden Glove award, given to the league’s most outstanding goalkeeper.

Sirois has been a member of the CF Montréal academy since 2015, spending time with the academy’s U-23 squads.

Rea, 19, joins Valour FC after spending the previous season with the club on loan from CF Montréal.

“It’s another good player who brings offensive solutions to the lineup,” said Dos Santos. “We want this team to have options and depth, and Sean provides that. He has the right mentality, coming in with another MLS preseason under his belt, and he’s willing to fight for his space on the team.”

The midfielder made 25 appearances during the 2021 season, totalling 1,271 minutes played, two goals and four assists.

Rea was a member of the CF Montréal academy since 2014, spending time with the academy’s U23 squads.

Internationally, Rea represented Canada at the 2019 U17 World Cup in Brazil, making two appearances in the tournament.
