WINNIPEG, MB., February 2, 2021 – Valour FC today announce that the club has signed Costa Rican international midfielder Néstor Monge.
Monge, 31, joins Valour FC from Pérez Zeledón (Liga FPD) where he spent the 2020 season, making 13 appearances and tallying two assists in Costa Rica’s top-flight professional league.
“Néstor Monge is a technically superior player and will connect the game for us.” said Head Coach & GM Rob Gale. “To bring in a player of his caliber and experience with over 300 games in Costa Rica’s top league, he’s at a terrific age to maximize his ability and experience with us and aid the development of others.”
In 2021, the midfielder has made five appearances with ADR Jicaral (Liga FPD) and will finish the remainder of the season before joining Valour FC in training camp.
In total, Monge has made 343 appearances in Liga FPD, totalling ten goals and 12 assists in over 25,000 minutes played.
Internationally, Monge has made six appearances with the Costa Rican men’s national team, with his most recent appearance coming against the USA in an international friendly in February of 2019.
